The workshops have recently hosted several high-profile guest speakers, including the Governor-General Sir Peter Cosgrove and his wife Lady Cosgrove on February 25.

BESPEAK, a communication training business founded by Torquay local Kath Essing, has been selected by the Australian Football League (AFL) Victoria to run a series of leadership workshops.

Ms Essing, a communications training expert and Bespeak, is working with Yellow Lab Consulting to create and deliver training for women in AFL Victoria.

The workshops have recently hosted several high-profile guest speakers, including the Governor-General Sir Peter Cosgrove and his wife Lady Cosgrove on February 25.

Kath said she was extremely passionate about women stepping into leadership roles, something AFL Victoria is championing, having personally mentored hundreds of women in business to succeed in their professional careers.

“The 21st century has seen dramatic changes to the role of gender dynamics in sport, business, and culture, meaning it’s more important than ever to invest in enhancing relationships and strong leadership,” she said.

Ms Essing has created an innovative, new method of communications training, which has been well received by many leading organisations, and is based on her previous experience in business consultancy and coaching.

“The Bespeak Communication Model (BCM) trains individuals to communicate and work together effectively to best achieve shared goals and meet organisational outcomes,” she said.

“BCM synthesises all the work I have done previously in this space and presents it in a way that is easy to understand and act upon.

“This is an approach I teach to leaders to enhance individual connections, which, in turn, improves organisational culture. This model creates a foundation for consistency and flow of communication and engagement.”

Ms Essing said Bespeak educates leaders in organisations on developing interpersonal connections and workplace relationships, and how to build a flourishing organisational culture.

“I find the gaps and identify the areas within teams that are not working, and I create solutions with the businesses to encourage connection. When people connect better, organisations are proven to perform better.”

Kath is currently working with a variety of businesses across Australia and has previously worked with Hatched Media, Flight Centre, Origin, TAC, Rio Tinto, and ANZ.

With a background in business consulting across numerous sectors, including finance and mining her qualifications range from positive psychology, human consciousness, life coaching, presenting, mindfulness, and Neuro-Linguistic Programming (NLP).

Kath is also a published author, having written Journey to Self, based on both her personal and professional journey in overcoming challenges in order to live life with a clear mind and aligned purpose.
