THE Torquay Surf Life Saving Club has joined forces with real estate agents Lynne Hayden and Suzy Jones from Links Property, as the major sponsors of their 2018/19 Nippers program, and the whole team is looking forward to a record breaking season.

“Our Nippers Program is a critical step in the development pathway of our future lifesavers, and we are excited to be partnering with such a community-focused business in Links Property,” TSLSC junior development director Scott McCardel said.

Last season, the TSLSC Nippers Program swelled to 330 across the season, and with the continued housing development across the Surf Coast, Geelong and Armstrong Creek corridors, the numbers are forecast to swell to more than 380 this season.

“We love giving back to this wonderful community where the Links Property team live and work, and are looking forward to a great season partnering with TSLSC,” Links Property director Lynne Hayden said.

While the scope of the Nippers program is to upskill juniors in aquatic safety focusing on a preventative-led safety approach, the key objective remains to continue the sustainability of future beach patrollers. The program covers beach and water safety, board skills, health and fitness, and provides an engaging social network for all families.

“Our program can’t be run without the support of a major sponsor,” Mr McCardel said.

“We operate entirely with the help of volunteers, fundraising, donations, sponsorships and grants, and the support of Links Property for this season will enable us to grow our equipment resources to match our membership growth.”

Torquay SLSC will run a “Come and Try” Nippers session on November 4 from 9am. For more information, email [email protected].
