LOCAL food charity Feed Me is urgently seeking volunteers in all three areas it operates in, with both strong hands for manual labour and skilled support in hospitality roles espeically needed.

Feed Me has a dedicated but stretched-thin team, and is seeing signs of volunteer burnout.

“We’re incredibly proud of the work our volunteers do, but they’re exhausted,” Feed Me chief executive officer Lana Purcell said.

“Some of the physical work is just too heavy for our current team, and in the kitchen, we desperately need more experienced hands.

“If you’ve worked in hospitality – even in a past life – we’d love to have you.”

Feed Me Geelong, Bellarine and Surf Coast is seeking volunteers for heavy lifting and manual labour such as unloading goods, moving supplies, and providing physical support on key days; and hospitality and kitchen duties for chefs, ex-chefs, cooks, waitresses/waiters, baristas, and food preparation volunteers.

No long-term commitment is required. Even a few hours here and there could make a big difference to both the Feed Me team and the people they serve.

“You don’t have to be here every week – if you’ve got a bit of time, a strong back, or hospitality experience, we’d love your help,” Ms Purcell said.

“This is about community – and right now, our community needs you.”

Recently, a community fundraising dinner helped support Feed Me’s vital work across all three locations.
