Local hairdresser raise $11,000 for Dementia Australia
A LOCAL hairdressing salon has helped to raise $11,000 for Dementia Australia by hosting a special fundraising event.
Kimberley and Co had more than 100 local people come through their Torquay salon last weekend to get either a hair wash or blow wave, with all funds going towards the charitable cause.
Luke Biscan performed live entertainment throughout the afternoon, while DJ Matt Cavanagh also donated his time.
Shakers on Wheels cocktail cart supplied complimentary beverages for those participating in the fundraising.
Salon owner Kimberley Nutbean said it was great to see the local community embrace such a special cause.
“So many people in our beautiful community came along and supported us,” Ms Nutbean said.
“We managed to get 65 wash and blow wave’s done during the day, with all the funds going to Dementia Australia.
“A huge thanks to Luke and Matt for their time, and to Shakers on Wheels for their support, it certainly created a great vibe.”
