A GESTURE from Torquay Lions Club volunteers has ensured local police know they are appreciated by the local community.

Following the murder of two Victorian police officers and the severe wounding of another in Porepunkah last week, the Lions dropped into the Torquay Police Station to honour their service and show their support.

During the visit, Lions member and retired police officer Allen Osman presented a bouquet of flowers to Senior Constable Nicolette Law and Senior Constable Luke Connerly, on behalf of the Torquay community.

“Torquay Lions and our local community understand the feelings police throughout Australia are enduring,” Mr Osman said.

“Hopefully, these flowers will brighten up the station and confirm how much our community supports them.”

Hundreds of Victorian police continue to pursue the alleged offender of the attack in Victoria’s north-east.

They are supported by NSW police and various Victorian emergency service teams.
