Local postie gears up to help Santa
MR MCFARLANE, a retired local postman, is collecting letters next week at Anglesea Primary School before heading north to drop them at Santa’s workshop.
He will return with personal letters for each student from Santa within the next fortnight.
However, the Santa postie hinted he might need to change outfits before he takes off on his travels.
“It’s been very cold up there, so I’m definitely going to need to change from what I’m wearing at the moment.
“I’ll be telling the children at school that the heater will be going on!”
Mr McFarlane said doing his special job to help Santa and elves is “the best fun in the world”.
“It’s a huge time of the year, and everyone is so excited.
“It’s year five with Anglesea Primary School and my 14th in total.
“When you’re riding the bike down post office and you see all the smiles and the cheers, you get the best feeling.
“It puts a smile on your face. It’s truly the best fun ever.”
The postie’s recent correspondence with Santa suggests children should be eating their vegetables, particularly their broccoli and pumpkin.
According to Mr McFarlane, Santa also wants to see people helping each other and being friendly.
“Santa will be reading every single letter and will be keeping an eye on the vegetables!”he said.
“Mix the pumpkin in with some potato, maybe. Just as long as you’re trying.”
Mr McFarlane said he can’t wait to see the children’s “priceless” reactions when their letters return from Santa with curated responses.
“The children are going to be so, so excited.”
