GEELONG, Bellarine and Surf Coast roads will undergo repair works in the coming months, as part of a state government road blitz.

Announced in September, the works will rebuild, repair and resurface roads across the state.

It can now be revealed works within Greater Geelong will be completed along Princes Highway West at Bell Post Hill, Fyansford and Corio, at Little River on the Geelong-Bacchus Marsh Road and on the Geelong-Ballan Road.

In the Surf Coast Shire, works will be undertaken on Moriac’s Hendy Main Road and on the Princes Highway West at Mount Moriac, Buckley and Winchelsea.

Barwon Heads Road and Bellarine Highway will also be included in the maintenance program.

Member for Western Victoria Gayle Tierney said the state government was investing $976 million into maintaining roads across the state.

“This Better Road Blitz will see crews out rebuilding, repairing and resurfacing roads across the south west of the state, as well as undertaking crucial maintenance on our roadsides, bridges, traffic lights and other vital road infrastructure.”

Of the record-breaking $976 million investment, 70 per cent will be dedicated to regional roads, targeting high-traffic areas and busy freight routes.

Lara MP Ella George said the government’s investment in the roads will significantly enhance the quality and reliability of roads across Geelong.

“This initiative not only supports our local economy but also improves the daily lives of Victorians by providing smoother pathways to work, school and essential services.”

While a definitive timeline for the works is yet to be announced, the repairs are expected to take place across the state until mid-2026.

Traffic management will be in place throughout the road maintenance period to ensure the safety of all road users.
