Local say for Taylor Park future
The Great Ocean Road Coast and Parks Authority (GORCAPA) is surveying Torquay residents on how they use Taylor Park to assist its implementation of the site’s master plan.
GORCAPA has opened a survey for park users that it indicated would help it better understand community values for the popular beachfront park and what, if any, changes they would make.
The Taylor Park Conservation Improvement Project is primarily concerned with preserving vegetation at the site and ensuring safety and accessibility of the park.
The authority said informal tracks at the park disrupt vegetation within conservation areas and creates safety risks.
It indicated it would consolidate tracks after the end of winter to address these issues.
The project aims to address key priorities of the Taylor Park Masterplan, including consolidating conservation areas; creating a safer and more accessible space for all park users and reducing the need to remove unsafe trees; and creating better defined pedestrian pathways.
The survey is open until August 16 online at the Great Ocean Road Authority’s Have Your Say page on its website.
