Locals to get up close with the pros

April 6, 2023 BY

Reigning Rip Curl Pro champion Tyler Wright will be at Saturday's Rip Curl signing.

LOCALS will get the chance to catch some of their surfing heroes up close this weekend at a host of brand athlete signings in Torquay.

Set to be held in the Surf City precinct, Rip Curl, Quiksilver, Strapper/Hurley and Volcom will host events where locals can meet the world’s best surfers while they compete in the 60th anniversary of the Rip Curl Pro at Bells Beach.

Rip Curl’s athlete signing event on Easter Saturday (April 8) from 4.30-5.30pm will include all their Championship Tour surfers including three-time world champion Gabriel Medina, women’s world number one Molly Picklum and the retiring Owen Wright.

The legendary Tom Curren, and up-and-coming star Erin Brooks are also set to be in attendance.

Just three doors up the road, Strapper will be hosting the Hurley team for an athlete signing and screen-printing session from 1-4pm.

Attendees will go into the draw to win a Hurley team signed surfboard and Strapper x Hurley printed T-shirt if they spend more than $30 in store.

Strapper will also be running a Volcom brand sausage sizzle on both Easter Saturday and Easter Sunday (noon-2pm), with incumbent men’s world number one Jack Robinson as the special guest.

A stone’s throw away at Boardriders Torquay, Quiksilver are inviting locals to spend Saturday afternoon with surfers Griffin Colapinto, Kanoa Igarashi and Rio Waida.

From 4.30-5.30pm, surf enthusiasts are encouraged to get a signature or selfie with one of the athletes and take part in a host of giveaways.

For more details about athlete signings, keep an eye for social media announcements from the three participating brands.
