Lorne Market to return
THE Lorne Foreshore will come to life this weekend when the popular Lorne Market series returns for its 2023-24 season.
Saturday’s event will feature more than 100 different stalls offering a huge variety of artisan, handmade and local ware products.
Handcrafted ceramics, candles, jewellery, homewares, gifts cards, leather goods and vintage clothing are all slated to feature.
All site and stall fees will go directly towards supporting the development of a new sensory playground and ampitheatre space at the Lorne P-12 College.
Lorne P-12 College principal, Carly Stafford said excitement was high heading into the fundraising event.
It’s been going on for quite a few years and has become a very important part of our fundraising for the school.
“It’s become a really big tradition and something our locals and tourists really look forward too.
“This year, the funds will help us in building an adventure playground with sensory gardens, sensory paths and chill out zones.
“An ampitheatre is also on the cards and so is gym equipment across the front of the school.
“There isn’t a lot of things to down here fitness wise, so the gym equipment will be available for use by the general public too.
“It will hopefully encourage the community to come in and use the space to get fit.”
Mrs Stafford said the new space has been the most significant project undertaken at the school for some time.
“We are getting the final costings at the moment, but its going to be a big one!
“We’ve also put some funds aside, and fundraised for this for a while, so it’s a big project.
“The space will cater right through from five-year-olds through to our 18-year-old Year 12 students, so its something we see a lot of value in.”
The Lorne Market will kick off at 9am and run until 3pm.
