Lorne next stop for roaming live music series
LORNE will host the next event in a statewide push to bring free live music to regional communities.
The township has been confirmed for the ALWAYS LIVE Victorian Vibes series, a Victorian government-backed program of free pop-up live music events.
Tourism, sport and major events minister Steve Dimopoulos said the program was designed to bring live music closer to home for more Victorians.
“It supports local businesses, creates jobs and gives people more reasons to visit regional Victoria,” he said.
The series launched earlier this month in Ballarat, where thousands filled the CBD for a day of surprise sets from Australian acts including Dan Sultan, Blusher and Hope D.

ALWAYS LIVE chief executive Psyche Payne said the Ballarat event captured what the series set out to achieve.
“Ballarat was the perfect opener to our series – the energy from the crowd, the performances from Dan Sultan, Blusher, Hope D and local talent Apples, and the way the whole city came alive around the music was exactly what Victorian Vibes is all about,” Payne said.
“Lorne is a town with music in its soul, and we can’t wait to bring that same spontaneous, community spirit to the Surf Coast.”
The free Lorne event will take place on Saturday 2 May, with performances unfolding across several venues and public spaces.
Artists and exact locations will be revealed closer to the day, and attendees must register online at alwayslive.com.au to receive the details.
The series will continue every second weekend through to mid-June, with stops across the Bellarine and Geelong region still to come.
