Lorne to embrace pink pilates for breast cancer
THE rooftop of the Lorne Hotel will be pink and proud tomorrow (Saturday, October 5) to raise funds for the National Breast Cancer Foundation.
More than 30 people are expected to attend the Pink Ribbon Pilates and Brunch as part of Breast Cancer Awareness Month.
The event will feature a 45-minute pilates session and a pink-themed breakfast with a choice of a cocktail or mocktail.
Event leader Nikki Wilson said many people would struggle not to know a person to be touched by breast cancer.
“My mum had it a few years ago. Gladly, they got it early,” she said.
“I’m 29 and so many people my age have already had to get lumps removed and things like that. It’s certainly a cause in which someone has a connection to in one way or another.”
One in seven women and one in 500 men will be diagnosed with breast cancer in their lifetime. Nine Australians lose their battle with the disease each day.
Ms Wilson said it was fantastic to have Lorne Hotel’s support.
“Initially we planned to just have a breakfast, but Eliza and team at Lorne Hotel had the great idea of incorporating pilates,” she said.
“The rooftop up there will be an amazing location to look over the water and take it all in. It’s for a great cause, so hopefully everyone really gets behind it.”
Those who do not want to do the pilates class are welcome to just attend the brunch.
The pilates class will start at 10am and will be “bring your own mat”.
