THOUSANDS of people will line the streets of Lorne to watch dazzling fireworks this New Year’s Eve.

The fireworks display will return for the first time in three years and feature two separate shows, one at 9pm and the other at midnight.

The Committee for Lorne and Lorne Business and Tourism Association have teamed up to raise the funds to put the fireworks show back on at the Lorne Pier.

The pair have already raised over $5,000 through its GoFundMe and have several large donations still to come through from local businesses and individuals.

Committee for Lorne member Peter Spring said excitement was high for the return of the event.

“We thought the community really needed the fireworks, and we are thrilled to be bringing it back,” he said.

“We’ve had strong support from many community members and businesses in town. We are at about 80-100 individual and business donations so far.

“Because of this, we are very confident we will get both fireworks shows up.

“It’s always been a highlight of Lorne on New Years Eve. It’s safe, family friendly, and gives off a great ampitheatre atmosphere to watch from home or the foreshore.

“We can’t wait.”

Donations or contributions of any kid are welcomed until December 31.
