METRICON Homes are celebrating the Lunar New Year with a free virtual cooking class hosted by celebrity chef Diana Chan.

For the fifth consecutive year Metricon Homes will be celebrating the occasion with an event available to all, no matter your cooking ability.

Ahead of the Lunar New Year, the 2017 MasterChef winner will be teaching participants how to make three Chinese inspired dishes in time to celebrate the Year of the Ox.

Since her 2017 victory, Ms Chan has stayed prominent not only in the cooking industry but in the entertainment business hosting the hit show Asia Unplated on SBS.

Cooking live from the luxurious kitchen of Metricon’s Doulton show home in Burwood, Ms Chan will celebrate her Asian heritage through three recipes that viewers can try from home.

Metricon’s spokesperson Damian Morabito says Ms Chan is the perfect teacher after spending many years perfecting flavours from all over the world.

“We are delighted to once again open up our Doulton home to celebrate Lunar New Year with the famed TV chef Diana Chan cooking up a storm,” he said.

“Best of all in 2021, you don’t need to leave your own home to get some quality culinary knowledge.”

The event will include recipes for all cooking abilities with simple, honest dishes made with readily available ingredients and easy-to-follow steps.

“We are bringing in the Lunar New Year with good luck and great fortune,” Mr Morabito said.

“Delicious food is an inseparable part of every Lunar New year.”

During the webinar participants will get the opportunity to ask Ms Chan questions during the live Q&A and on the night a prize from Lumi Lighting will be up for grabs for one lucky winner.

“In non-COVID-19 times, we have held gatherings of dinner, dance and performances but this year we have switched to hosting this virtual event so that we don’t have to imply very limited guest numbers, but can still celebrate with recipes that signfy prosperity, happiness and abundance,” Mr Morabito said.

“We look forward to a time when we can come together again.”

The Lunar New Year event is on Wednesday 17 February from 6:30pm -7:30pm
