Luxury retirement living in Armstrong Creek
IF THERE’S one thing RCA Villages has come to understand in its 12-year history, it’s the importance of community.
So when the opportunity to build a premium retirement village in Armstrong Creek arose, the decision was a no-brainer.
Managing director Andrew Philip said the team had been looking for a site on the Bellarine Peninsula for many months before the ideal location presented itself.
Armstrong Green is the latest addition to RCA Villages’ collection of 10 retirement communities.
Here’s what Mr Philip had to say about it.
Location, location, location
“We’d been looking for a really good site on the Bellarine Peninsula for a long time, and this is a cracking site. We acquired it from the YMCA late last year, something we’ve never done before. Barwon Heads is just 10 minutes away, with residents able to access the beach and golf course (13th Beach). It’s also just 15 minutes back towards Geelong.”
The RCA difference
“We’re a little bit different in how we operate. We’re Melbourne-based but everything we do is done with good family values. At the end of the day, we’re not selling widgets, we’re dealing with people’s lives. We’re a family owned business and we work well to develop lifestyle communities. We’re very hands on and we can offer a much more personal approach.”
Building communities
“The villages are a bit like country towns – places where everyone looks out for each other in a community of maybe 200-300 people. People get involved in the community. We create an environment where the community values grow and prosper which is often missing in suburbs today.”
How each village works and what’s available
“We have a very significant active health program. Retirement villages are not aged care facilities – they offer independent living and a lifestyle community. People enjoy their own home within a safe and secure environment, and the health and wellbeing program is free of charge to all residents. Residents have access to advice on services on how to remain healthy as you age in your home, as well as a clubhouse, swimming pool and health professionals.”
No deposit and nothing to sign
“We have an easy way for people to enquire. If someone’s interested, come and have a chat to us. We’ll give you a map of the village, and you can choose one of the eight floor plans. We don’t put pressure on people. Moving is stressful – you don’t need the stress of signing contracts and paying 10 per cent deposits. All we ask is that you start the process of selling your existing home, but we time it with you so your home at the village is ready when your existing house sells.”
Where to find out more information
“We’ll be launching the newest village later this month. We welcome those interested to join us for a complimentary two-course lunch at the Batesford Hotel on March 11 where they can view the plans and learn more.”
