RATEMYAGENT’S Torquay agency of the year for 2018, McCartney Real Estate, has lived up to the accolade with some great auction results over the weekend, selling three properties with exceptional results.

Old Torquay remains the real estate hot spot on the coast with the demand for property close to the town centre at an all-time high.

The McCartney auction of an older style home at 48 Bristol Road over the weekend made an impressive $1.555 million.

In what could be a record result for that part of town, three bidders battled it out in front of a crowd of over 150 people with a starting bid of $1.3 million; 13 bids later the property was knocked down to a holiday home buyer.

McCartney Real Estate director Tim Carson said interest in the Old Torquay home had been terrific.

“There had been close to 100 people inspecting the property during the auction campaign,” Mr Carson said.

“The expected price range was $1.3 million to $1.4 million, with the property selling under the hammer for $1.555 million.

“This just shows the strength of our market, and we at McCartney Real Estate still have a number of people looking to secure a property in the Older Torquay area. With two people missing out on this property, and some interested parties not even getting a chance to put their hand up, we have buyers in the ready for this market space.”

Meanwhile, also in Old Torquay, McCartney’s auction of a new executive townhouse at 3/40 Boston Road sold after auction for $855,000 to a young couple from Melbourne.

In the established South Beach Estate, a well-appointed four-bedroom federation style home at 25 Norfolk Boulevard also sold on the day with McCartney real estate for $820,000 to a couple who have moved down to Torquay from Geelong.
