MORE than 75 local men will come together next week to relax, connect and share in a unique community experience.

Men’s support group DIIGG Wellbeing will host its inaugural “meal and movie night” on October 19.

The evening is designed to promote men’s mental health and wellbeing, while giving locals the chance to connect over food, conversation and film.

The fun will start at 4 Pines Brewery Co Torquay with a meal and drinks, before the group heads to the Australian National Surfing Museum for a screening of Belly of the Beast: A Torquay Story, by local creative John Teague.

The film explores Torquay’s rich history and how the town became a global hub as surf culture swelled.

DIIGG Wellbeing founder Michael Judd said the response to the event had been “amazing”, with all available tickets already snapped up.

“It’s exactly what we were after,” he said.

The event will feature a screening of “Belly of the Beast: A Torquay Story”, a documentary by local creative John Teague that explores Torquay’s surf history.

“Everyone is so busy at the moment, so we thought this would be a great little circuit breaker to get people together.

“For us, it’s all about slowing down, showing up and uniting as a community.”
