SEAROAD Ferries is giving away $1million worth of tickets to help drive tourism and thank Victorians for their lockdown efforts.
Thousands of lucky people can sail across the bay free-of-charge and show some much-needed support for businesses on the picturesque Bellarine and Mornington peninsulas.
At total of 38,484 return foot passenger tickets are up for grabs and can be used on any day between November 23 this year and July 31 next year.
Searoad Ferries CEO Matt McDonald said the giveaway was motivated by a desire to bring visitors back to the region and help drive the local economy after a tough year.
Mr McDonald said it was a chance for Victorians to feel a world away from the challenges of 2020 and instead enjoy some sea air and simple onboard pleasures such as spotting a dolphin, watching the changing water, bumping into an old friend or gazing at the coastline.
“We are a family owned business and we know how hard it has been for Victorians during lockdown,” he said.
“In particular, we’ve seen the hardship faced by many local businesses who rely on tourism so wanted to do our bit and encourage as many visitors as possible to help the community spring back from an incredibly difficult time.”
He said Victorians were being encouraged to pick a day, share the link with family and friends, grab their ticket and make the most of a trip on Port Phillip Bay.
Searoad Ferries has operated its iconic car and passenger ferry service between Sorrento and Queenscliff for 30 years, sailing across the bay 24 times a day, 365 days a year.
The company operates under a comprehensive COVID-safe plan, with strict cleaning and hygiene measures in place, contactless ticket purchase and boarding, seating placement for social distancing and plenty of outside deck space.
Registration for the free tickets opens on Wednesday, November 18 and runs through until 5pm on the Sunday 22nd of November.
