SURF COAST locals are being told to expect only minor traffic and car parking disruptions on the Surf Coast during the World Surf League (WSL) Bioglan Bells Beach Longboard Classic.

The event, which kicks off on Wednesday (August 30) will have a significantly smaller impact and footprint than the Rip Curl Pro Bells Beach event over Easter.

The site footprint will only be as big as the Bells Beach carpark hammerhead, with limited infrastructure.

There will be minor disruptions in the lower car park at Bells Beach from August 25 to September 2.

The event will have a significantly smaller footprint than the Rip Curl Pro Bells Beach.

The main event will be a maximum four-day waiting period, with a three-day set up and two-day pack-up.

Surf breaks will be open to the public during set-up and bump-out.

Along with existing fencing, additional measures will be implemented to the areas surrounding the site to protect vegetation and cultural heritage values.

In 2023, the event will wrap up ahead of Father’s Day to ensure Bells Beach is open to the public to celebrate the day.
