Name the new primary school in Armstrong Creek
THE state government is giving the community the chance to have their say on the name of a new government school opening in Armstrong Creek West next year.
South Barwon MP Darren Cheeseman said the Victorian School Building Authority would consult with local communities on naming new schools now under construction and set to open in 2020.
This will include a name for the new primary school opening in Unity Drive in Armstrong Creek, which has the interim name of Armstrong Creek West Primary School.
Community engagement will begin in Term 2, and people will be able to provide feedback across multiple channels such as online and social media.
“We’re giving the Armstrong Creek community the opportunity to shape the character of this brand-new school,” Mr Cheeseman said.
“This is your chance to put forward a school name that reflects the unique character of our area.”
Labor says it will open 100 new government schools over the next eight years.
New schools will open next year in Greater Geelong, Ballarat, Casey, Greater Dandenong, Hume, Mitchell and Wyndham. A new school campus for Beveridge Primary School is also under construction and will open next year.
