Neighbourhood Watch Surf Coast seeks new members and hosts Coffee with a Cop event

October 4, 2019 BY

Neighbourhood Watch Surf Coast runs several initiatives in the community, including Safe Plate Days (seen here).

THE next Neighbourhood Watch Surf Coast meeting will be its annual general meeting followed by its quarterly general meeting, to be held next week.

The existing committee is seeking enthusiastic locals to assist local police and NHW group in averting opportunistic criminal activity.

“With our fast growing population there is much to do and some fresh blood would be welcomed,” the committee said.

“We enjoy wonderful support from local police and SES volunteers, and with some members being involved for more than 15 years they would welcome a step back while welcoming and supporting some new members.

“Don’t let NHW, like some other volunteer organisations, become a group of the past. Please join us as we work with our local police to drive down crime!”

The Neighbourhood Watch Surf Coast meeting will be held at the Torquay Police Station on Tuesday, October 8, starting at 10.15am with morning tea.

NHW Surf Coast is also running a “Coffee with a Cop’ event, to be held next week at Bombora’s Café on The Esplanade.

“These events provide our local community an opportunity to meet face to face with some of our local police representatives in an informal setting to discuss safety and security issues that may be of concern, or present initiatives that may improve our Surf Coast lifestyle,” the committee said.

“Take the opportunity to discuss issues in person rather than taking to social media.”

Join them and enjoy a complimentary coffee or tea on Wednesday, October 9 at any time between 10.30am-noon.

NHW Surfcoast Inc. greatly appreciates the support for this event provided by Hayden’s Real Estate and Bombora’s Cafe.
