A CONVEYANCING firm from the Geelong area has been judged among the best of its peers in Victoria by the Australian Institute of Conveyancers (AIC).

Nelson Property Transfer Services won the Stewart Title Regional Conveyancing Firm Award and staff member Zac Nelson won the PEXA Regional Employee Award at this year’s AIC Victorian Division state conference, held at the RACV City Club in Melbourne.

Nelson Property Transfer Services branch manager Petti Pettinella said the teams in the Geelong and Ocean Grove offices were surprised and thrilled with the wins.

“Our director, Jen Nelson, was just chuffed to be nominated.

“Zac was presented with his award first and Zac is Jen’s son, so she had a proud director moment and a proud mum moment simultaneously, a bit like ‘If nothing else happens tonight, this is the best thing that could possibly happen’, and the next minute we win the regional firm award.”

Ms Pettinella said Zac Nelson was an “amazing” employee, and headed up Nelson Property Transfer Services’ subdivision team.

Nelson Property Transfer Services has been operating for more than 20 years, originally as part of the Sargeants Conveyancing franchise.

Ms Pettinella said customer service, and giving clients what they needed, was a high priority for the business.

“Some clients will open a file with us, there’s minimal correspondence from them and they just want to get through to settlement day; other times, we speak to clients several times a day because they need a bit more information and a bit more reassurance every day throughout the settlement.

“It can be a stressful time – people are making the biggest purchase of their year, or they’re selling the family home they’ve lived in for 50 years and raised their kids in. They’re going into a bit of the unknown, and that’s what we’re there to do; to comfort them and reassurance them and make sure they feel as comfortable with their decision as much as they possibly can.”
