New CEO appointed for Western Vic PHN

WESTERN Victoria Primary Health Network (WVPHN) has announced the appointment of Craig Wilding as its new chief executive officer.

He replaces Rowena Clift, who is now the dual CEO of the Western District Health Service and Casterton Memorial Hospital.

Mr Wilding began his career as a radiographer and has overseen large health prevention programs such as BreastScreen and the Grampians Public Health Unit.

He brings more than 20 years of senior and executive leadership experience in health care settings.

Mr Wilding has had an esteemed and enduring career with Grampians Health, in which he has held positions including director of medical administration, workforce planning and engagement; executive director – Primary and Community Care, as well as his present and most recent position, chief operating officer of community and aged care.

His expertise in strategic planning, operational efficiency, and stakeholder engagement has led to significant advancements in healthcare delivery and patient outcomes.

“I am thrilled to be joining Western Victoria Primary Health Network as CEO,” Mr Wilding said.

“I look forward to working with the dedicated team at WVPHN, the broader community and our stakeholders to continue improving healthcare access and services for the people of western Victoria.”

WVPHN board chair, Professor Susan Brumby said the board was enthusiastic about new CEO appointment.

“Craig’s extensive experience and empowering and innovative leadership make him the ideal candidate to lead our organisation into the future.

“We are confident that under his guidance, WVPHN will continue to excel in delivering high-quality services and addressing the unique needs of our communities.

“I would like to thank our former CEO, Rowena Clift, for her contribution during her tenure – she left a significant legacy.

“I also thank our interim CEO Andy Giddy who has been in the role since December last year.

“Andy has done a tremendous job working with the Board and has overseen vital work that will enable our new CEO to really hit the ground running.”

Mr Wilding will officially start at WVPHN on May 6.
