A NEW Inflatable Rescue Boat (IRB) and motor has been added to the Anglesea Surf Life Saving Club’s fleet, thanks to kind support from the Community Bank Surf Coast.

Community Bank Surf Coast provided a grant of $23,500 to help purchase the new piece of vital rescue equipment.

The IRB plays a key role in the club’s ability to perform life-saving patrols and responding swiftly in times of emergency.

Anglesea SLSC president David Marsh said the club was truly indebted to the Community Bank Surf Coast.

“Their support has directly strengthened our frontline capability.

“Their ongoing commitment to community safety and volunteerism is something we deeply value.”

Community Bank Surf Coast director Andrew Jones said they were thrilled to provide this special funding.

“This is the most up to date IRB with all the latest trimmings!

“We thought it was very important to upgrade the IRB as it makes the beach safer for everybody.

“The funding is part of a three-year partnership with them to support them in any way we can.”

In a special ceremony, the club was proud to christen the new IRB in honour of long-time member and beloved Anglesea local Col Anderson.

Col has given decades of unwavering service and support to the club’s IRB racing team in his role as honorary mechanic.

“Col represents everything that’s great about our club — dedication, mateship, and a selfless commitment to helping others,” Mr Marsh added.

“It was a fitting tribute to name our newest rescue boat after him.”
