New look for tourist site toilets
TWO toilet blocks at popular Surf Coast beaches will soon undergo makeovers, with new-look designs released this month.
The Great Ocean Road Coast and Parks Authority has unveiled its plans to rebuild two amenity blocks at Bird Rock, Jan Juc and Grove Road, Lorne.
The upgraded facilities will include better accessibility, more capacity, improved hygiene, water drainage and eco-friendly design features.
The Authority indicated it had worked with Eastern Maar and Wadawurrung Traditional Owners to help shape the designs.
Construction is set to start during next year and take about five months to finish.
The final designs followed community consultation earlier this year, when GORCAPA said it considered feedback on Aboriginal inclusion, environmental outcomes, design quality, social outcomes, and funding requirements.
“We aim to keep the public facilities on our managed land in tip-top shape so they can be used by you and visitors now and for years to come,” the Authority stated.
“The busy Grove Road amenity block will be a spruce up of the existing facility, and at Bird Rock the dated facility will receive a total makeover.”
