A NEW playgroup is bringing French bulldogs and their families together for weekly laughs, cuddles and social play at the Torquay Common.

Inspired by an energetic 11-week-old Frenchie named Rue, the playgroup will this weekend mark its fourth gathering and is already growing quickly in size.

Amanda Caddaye, who created the group earlier this month after Rue joined her family, said her initial goal was to help her daughter Susie connect with other French bulldog lovers and to learn more about the affectionate and quirky dog breed.

But as it evolves, she hopes the playgroup can become a source of community and support to those who attend.
One of the playgroup’s members, a friendly rescue pup who spent the first 12 months of his life confined to a cage, travels all the way from Clifton Springs with his family to be involved.
He is still learning how to play and interact with other dogs.
Ms Caddaye said all were welcome at the family-friendly playgroup and encouraged anyone interested in joining to come along to a get-together.
“If you’ve got a Frenchie and you want to connect with other Frenchie owners, come on down,” she said.

“From little things, big things grow.”
The playgroup meets each Sunday at 10.30am at the Torquay Common.
