JUST over 900 Nippers took over Torquay front beach on Friday last week during Life Saving Victoria’s Cosy Corner Carnival.

The annual event is traditionally the biggest junior event on the Victorian lifesaving sports calendar outside of state championships.
In 2025, 23 clubs took part – 21 from across Victoria and two from interstate – with a total of 903 participants aged between six and 14 hitting the sand and the water over the course of the day.

Life Saving Victoria senior manager for sport Chris Schleusner said last week’s Cosy Corner Carnival was another great event.

“The carnival ran very well, and conditions – weather and swell – were great for a Nippers’ carnival.

“Heat wasn’t a factor on the Surf Coast on Friday and didn’t effect the event schedule at all ”
Torquay SLSC finished first overall at the carnival’s end, with Ocean Grove SLSC second and Anglesea SLSC third.
