The Cadel Evans Great Ocean Road Race (CEGORR) will not be staged in January 2022.

In a statement issued this afternoon, Visit Victoria has been advised that the UCI WorldTour Teams will not be able to travel to Australia for January’s elite cycling calendar, including the three days of events in the Geelong region, due to national quarantine challenges.

“We know this is disappointing for race organisers, our partners, communities along the Surf Coast and cycling fans from all over who love the Cadel Evans Great Ocean Road Race,” Visit Victoria chief executive officer Brendan McClements said.

Race organisers have been working closely with the Australian and international cycling community to exhaust all possibilities.

“Visit Victoria is currently exploring opportunities to hold an international cycling event later in 2022.”

Visit Victoria thanked the UCI for its ongoing support and said it looked forward to continuing the strong partnership that had been built over many decades.

CEGORR comprises the UCI WorldTour Elite Men’s Road Race, the UCI Women’s WorldTour Elite Women’s Road Race, Race Torquay, the People’s Ride and the Family Ride.
