Nominations open for Polwarth Medal
Polwarth MP Richard Riordan is calling on the community to nominate a local for the 2024 Polwarth medal.
The medal recognises those who have given their all in the electorate and have helped make life in Polwarth better for everybody.
“The Polwarth award is to give recognition to those who have gone above and beyond in the spirit of volunteerism within the community,” Mr Riordan said.
“I think we all know people who contribute to the rich fabric of our towns, sports clubs and community groups…but they often go without greater recognition, it is one of these people who I want to formally acknowledge through this award.”
In the past, medal recipients have been awarded for their efforts across a range of areas, including their involvement with natural disasters and community groups.
“We’ve had people that have been actively involved in youth groups, scouts and other things,” Mr Riordan said.
“When someone is nominated for the Polwarth medal, I often find that they are contributing to the community across a range of areas.
“So, this can be to acknowledge someone that does a lot of different things within the community as well as those who contribute to one specific field.”
Nominations are open until the end of the month.
The Polwarth Medal recipient will be formally recognised with an award lunch and community get-together on March 17 and will be commended in state parliament.
