WANNON federal member Dan Tehan is inviting the community to send in their choices for this year’s Wannon Sport and Volunteer Awards, nominations for which are now open.

The annual awards for the electorate are presented in two categories.

The Wannon Sport Awards honour individuals and teams who have demonstrated excellence, commitment and achievement in sport at any level.

  • Nominations can be made in the following categories:
  • Primary School – Individual or Team Achievement
  • Secondary School – Individual or Team Achievement
  • Open – Individual or Team Achievement, and
  • Member of Parliament Award.

The Volunteer Awards honour individuals and groups who dedicate their time, energy and passion to making a real difference — from youth mentors to emergency responders and everyone in between.

Individuals or groups can be nominated in one of the following categories:

  • Youth Volunteer
  • Emergency Management
  • Group
  • Inspiring Individual, and
  • Member of Parliament Award.

“These awards shine a light on the remarkable contributions of individuals and groups across our region, both on the sporting field and through selfless voluntary service,” Mr Tehan said.

“Recognising these efforts not only honours their achievements and efforts but inspires others to get involved, helping to strengthen our communities.”

Nominations for the Wannon Volunteer Awards close at 5pm on October 1 and can be submitted at dantehan.com.au

This year’s awards ceremony will take place in Colac on November 21.
