AFTER more than a decade on the Surf Coast Highway, the Great Ocean Road Nursey is on the move.

The small, dedicated team will move to The Paddock on Grossmans Road, reopening as Bellbrae Nursey in May after a branding refresh.

Since taking over the business in 2016, father-and-son duo Brian and David Brennan have built a strong following for their focus on native, indoor and edible plants.

Backed by decades of hands-on experience in their own native gardens and productive veggie patches, the pair remain dedicated to sharing their knowledge with the community.

David said the move “just up the road” marked an exciting step forward.

“This site is just amazing and really lends itself to what we are doing here in building our reputation as one of Australia’s best nurseries,” he said.

“We can’t wait to grow in terms of literally growing and propagating our plants, as well as spreading our wings in terms of our overall native stock.

“It’ll be a destination spot for sure, with all the different elements we will have going on at the one site.”

The Paddock is shaping as a lifestyle hub, bringing together Surf Coast Palms, Bells Beach Botanical and a cafe serving Ocean Grind coffee.

Plans also include small animals on site, with live music and entertainment flagged for the future.

“It’ll be a bit of a co-operative situation where the three businesses will work together to make it into a hub,” David said.

“We believe it will be a fantastic base to service Anglesea, Aireys Inlet, Torquay, Jan Juc, Bellbrae and more.

“To find somewhere just down the road from our original location is a real blessing.”

Alongside retail, Bellbrae Nursery will continue to offer landscaping and design services, from plant selection through to full installation.

“If someone comes in and says we want this and this, we come out and install it for them and design it all,” David said.

“It’s not just coming here and having a look – we can recommend plants to you or come out to your home and do it all for you.”

Bellbrae Nursery is expected to open in early May.
