Otway waterfall upgraded ahead of peak season
ONE of Victoria’s most stunning waterfalls has been upgraded to allow for a more enjoyable and safer experience.
Erskine Falls has been upgraded with improved lookouts, walking trails and parking, including spectacular viewpoints from the top and base of the falls.
The improved viewing platform at the base of the falls now offers a close-up view of the 35-metre cascade plunging into the rockpool below.
Those into their walking can now enjoy greater access to Lemonade Creek and its surrounding tracks, with two deteriorating footbridges rebuilt.
Half a million visitors visit Erskine Falls each year, making it one of the top attractions on the Surf Coast.
Parks Victoria area chief ranger Michelle Anstee said winter and spring makes the perfect time to come and visit and enjoy the new upgrades.
“Visitors can enjoy the spectacular view at the base of the falls from a safe, comfortable distance with plenty of space for photos and to take it all in.
“As always, follow safety advice and check conditions to ensure a safe visit.
“For a more peaceful experience, visit mid-week or during the cooler months to avoid crowds and see the falls at their best.”
Upgrades were delivered as part of the Victoria’s Great Outdoors program, a $106.6 million investment into better campgrounds, walking trails, 4WD tracks and visitor facilities across the state.
