A tin rattle by local lifesavers saw more than $10,000 raised for the Port Campbell families affected y the Easter tragedy.

The dedicated volunteers from Jan Juc, Lorne and Torquay surf life saving clubs (SLSC) put in an outstanding effort to raise more than $10,000 through a tin rattle last weekend in Torquay to support the three impacted families of the Port Campbell tragedy.

The tragic incident occurred on Easter Sunday, when three experienced surf lifesavers answered a call to save a person in trouble in large challenging conditions.

That response resulted in two surf lifesavers losing their lives and a third ending up in a critical condition in The Alfred Hospital.

Jan Juc, Lorne and Torquay SLSCs were able to obtain permits to run an intersection collection at very short notice, with 100 per cent of the money raised going directly to the three impacted families.

A donation page for all three families has also been set up through the Surf Life Saving Foundation. It can be found at: slsfoundation.com.au/portcampbell.
