Passion meets expertise at The Running Company

RUNNERS on the Surf Coast will be well looked after with the opening of The Running Company in Torquay.

Owned by locals Julian Spence and Brianne Hook, the store opened in Torquay earlier this month.

The store specialises in running and walking footwear, apparel and accessories, offering a personalised fitting service with every customer.

Mr Spence said the team is made up of dedicated runners who have an intricate knowledge of footwear and how it applies to the foot and the wearer, allowing them to be more technical in their fittings, setting them apart from other running stores.

“We can provide advice on shoes, not only for comfort, but for injury prevention and management as well as shoes for performance,” he said.

“The shoe has to fit the foot well and it has to function for the purpose that it’s intended for and our job as footwear specialists is to be able to apply our knowledge of footwear to that specific customer.”

The Torquay store marks the couple’s expansion into the Surf Coast, following the success of their stores in Geelong’s Packington Street.

Mr Spence said through the Geelong store they’ve noticed a lot of their customers are based on the Surf Coast.

“We’ve travelled the world running training camps, racing and I still feel like the Surf Coast is the best place in the world to train.

“We have the best running in the world out the back of Anglesea, through the Otways, around the Surf Coast coastal trails and Point Addis.

“You could come from all over the world and train here specifically, and I know some people do, and it’s only right we have a high level of service in a running store to cater for that.”

As well as selling a variety of shoes, The Running Company also help with runner’s nutrition offering products for endurance sports and a range of apparel and accessories.
