People’s Ride entries to Cadel’s race close soon
EARLY bird registrations for the TAC People’s Ride are closing soon, with more than 3,000 riders again expected to roll along the roads of Geelong, the Bellarine and the Surf Coast on February 1.
Presented by Visit Victoria, the Cadel Evans Great Ocean Road Race has featured the mass participation ride since the inaugural event in 2015.
This year’s People’s Ride will feature two courses that showcase the best of regional Victoria.
The longer Cadel Classic is aimed at riders looking to challenge themselves along a one-day course while taking in some of the most beautiful coastal views Victoria has to offer across 124km.
Heading south from Geelong to Barwon Heads and then through Torquay and the rolling hills of the Surf Coast Shire, riders can choose to tackle the imposing Challambra Climb to experience what the world’s best face during the UCI WorldTour event.
The shorter Cadel’s Hometown is an easier ride that passes through Barwon Heads.
The 59km course provides a flatter cycling experience for beginner and intermediate riders alike.
Early bird entrants can save 20 per cent of the top price, but this offer ends on August 31.
“I can’t wait to see over 3,000 friends, cycling fans and locals hit the roads with me in February,” Evans said this week.
“It will be 10 years since our inaugural event in 2015 and to see the streets of Geelong, Surf Coast and the Bellarine filled with people getting out on their bike is a wonderful sight.
“Now’s the time to sign up before the Early Bird window closes at the end of August.
“Join me in 2025 to challenge yourself and take to the same roads our world’s best cyclists will battle on that same weekend.”
The UCI WorldTour calendar for 2025 has the Cadel Evans Great Ocean Road Race Elite Men’s and Women’s races slated for February 1 and February 2.
The weekend of world-class cycling will again attract riders and fans from around the world.
