Performers primed for Lorne stages
THE Lorne Festival of Performing Arts in only a week away but there’s still time to secure your tickets and take advantage of accommodation specials.
This year’s line-up for the festival that runs August 30 to September 2 includes dual ARIA award winner Monique Brumby and her band performing for the first time at FOPA.
With five albums and three EPs recorded over 20 plus years in Australia and the US, Monique brings her reputation as an accomplished live performer to the newly installed Lorne Hotel outdoor sound stage; her performance will take place in the Lorne Hotel Beer Garden on Saturday September 1 from 3.30pm.
For families, The Vegetable Plot – Songs of Love and Peas will take over Saturday and Sunday, September 1 and 2 at 2.30pm and 11.30am, respectively, to get parents and kids moving at Cumberland Lorne.
Aspara Gus, Ru Barb and Sir Paul McCarrotney teach you how to shake your stems, do the jumping bean and twist and sprout in this fresh, funky, award-winning live music show for kids, families, and foodies.
Continuing the family-friendly shows is Acts of Absurdity: A Circus, Magic & Comedy Spectacular performed by Daniel Oldaker aka “Dandyman” and Rani Huszar “Foxy Moron” is a must-see.
Masterful magic, chaotic clowning, preposterous physical feats and musical mayhem will take place Saturday at 11.30am in Lorne Hotel’s View Room with pop-up free performances happening throughout the town over the weekend.
The Opening Gala extravaganza of music, magic, cabaret and comedy, hosted by award-winning comedian, author and musician Sammy J, kicks off proceedings August 31 at 7.30pm at the Cumberland Resort.
