THIS year’s Pivot Summit has been pushed back by five months, but organisers say the move has been done to better tie it in with the Geelong After Dark Festival.

The annual conference – which was to be held in December – features national and international speakers, who share their insights on the future of technology, innovation and entrepreneurship and their impacts on how we work, live and think.

Last week, summit organisers said the fourth Pivot Summit would now take place on May 3 and 4, and expand its themes to also include light, music, performance and entertainment.

Pivot Summit founder Leighton Wells said the change of date was happening in order to ensure the next Pivot Summit was the best ever.

“The change of date will allow Pivot Summit to pursue some critical commercial and speaker opportunities that could not have proceeded if we went ahead in December.

“We are committed to making Pivot the best it can be, and this is the best way to ensure that happens.”

He said the opportunity to collaborate with Geelong After Dark was an exciting step in the evolution of Pivot Summit and brought it one step closer to some of the leading global innovation-technology-music-entertainment festivals, such as

South by Southwest (SXSW) in the United States. The line-up for the 2019 Pivot Summit “will still include most of the brilliant minds announced in September – and some new ones”.

Themes to be examined include the tension between technology and humanity, looking to our intergalactic future and the role of technology in mental health and wellbeing.

People who have already purchased tickets will have their tickets reissued for the May 2019 event or can seek a refund. Head to pivotsummit.com.au.
