Planting day marks the arrival of spring

August 15, 2018 BY

Volunteers take part in The Point’s second annual community planting day.

SHAKE off the winter blues and put a ‘spring’ in your step at the 2018 The Point community planting day.

With spring just around the corner, Bellarine residents and community members are invited to rediscover their green thumbs at The Point’s third annual community planting day.

An ideal way to mark the arrival of spring, this year’s planting day will take place on Sunday September 2, the first Sunday of spring.

Hosted by Moremac Property Group, the event is part of an ongoing partnership with the Bellarine Catchment Network and kicks off with the planting of a selection of indigenous vegetation within the future conservation reserve of The Point, followed by a guided walk through the reserve.

Following the hands-on gardening event, residents and community members can enjoy a free BBQ lunch with refreshments.

Moremac Property Group Director Bryce Moore said the community planting day would be a great opportunity for members of the local community to socialise and learn more about the surrounding vegetation in the area.

“We’re always trying to find creative ways to engage with the local community and welcome residents and community members to The Point,” Mr Moore said.

“This is our third community planting day and I look forward to once again meeting everyone on the day and working together to successfully plant and sow a new section of native vegetation at The Point.”

Bellarine Catchment Network Biodiversity Coordinator Lachlan Forbes said the event would be an ideal chance for community members to enjoy the outdoors, learn about the local flora and pick up tips on how to sow and tend to plants.

The community planting day is at Amphora Way – The Point on Sunday September 2 from 10.30am.
