SURF Coast police have hosted a forum to help enhance engagement and collaboration with stakeholders and the community on its priorities and performance.

The Surf Coast Neighbourhood Policing Forum was held at the Torquay SLSC on Tuesday last week and was attended by local residents.

The event provided a platform for the community to ask questions and provide feedback to Victoria Police directly on their community safety concerns and issues.

Police presented local data on issues such as family violence, youth, drugs, crime and road policing, before the forum was opened for discussion and questions.

The focus for questions was on safety issues.

Surf Coast local area commander Ilena Pucar said the forum was well received by residents.

“I know that it was a great opportunity for me to meet some of our community members and it was also an opportunity for them to meet their local police members,” Ms Plucar said.

“Throughout the forum a number of local crime and safety issues were raised which we were able to take away and will work (on) with our partners and community to address.”
