Police believe Torquay firebug has struck again

Police are calling on anyone with information to come forward as they investigate.

A TORQUAY firebug is thought to have struck again this morning with police urging anyone with information to come forward.

Since October 23, 10 fires have been confirmed in the areas surrounding Grandview Road with another suspected to be lit today (Wednesday, January 27)

The series of arsons included several scrub and structure fires, with CCTV footage depicting a young man believed to be responsible.

Police say the man has been seen using flammable liquid to light fires in Grandview Road and Central Avenue.

Emergency services attended a fire at Deep Creek Park, Torquay this morning with the Arson Squad investigating the matter.

The fire has caused extensive damage to the playground with the area temporarily fenced off until repairs can be completed. It is not yet confirmed if these cases are linked.

Police have released images of a man whom they believe may be able to assist in their on-going investigation.
