A man has been arrested following a dramatic police incident in Jan Juc that unfolded across the Great Ocean Road region over two days.
Police allege officers first encountered the 27-year-old Grovedale man on 25 March about 7am, when they conducted checks on a parked Subaru Impreza along the Great Ocean Road.
During the checks, officers allegedly identified the driver as being wanted on outstanding matters and moved to prevent him from leaving.
Police boxed in the vehicle and deployed a tyre deflation device, however the situation quickly escalated.
The driver allegedly woke and attempted to flee, ramming a police divisional van.
Two officers were forced to jump clear of the vehicle to avoid being struck.
Police then tracked the Subaru along the Great Ocean Road, with stop sticks successfully deployed near Yuulong about 12pm.
The man allegedly abandoned the vehicle and fled on foot into dense forest, sparking a search of the surrounding area.
Officers were initially unable to locate him, but continued enquiries into his whereabouts.
The search resumed the following morning when police received a tip-off from a member of the public at a café in Lavers Hill about 8.30am.
Local officers from Colac and Birregurra coordinated a response, surrounding the area and locating the man inside a public toilet block.
He was arrested without incident.
The Grovedale man remains in custody and is expected to be interviewed by police.
