THE 49th edition of the Port Fairy Folk Festival is building up to one of the biggest yet, with a rich vein of acts added to the lineup this past week.

An inspiring mix of international guests, First Nations voices, beloved Australian songwriters, and genre defying performers are exciting additions to the March long weekend celebration.

From soul stirring folk and roots to choral spectacles and experimental sounds, the fourth artist announcement reinforces the festival’s reputation as one of Australia’s most inclusive, adventurous and deeply connected music gatherings.

Fresh additions to the event bill include mesmerising new voice in contemporary soul Annahstasia (USA), legendary Mississippi gopsel family Annie & The Caldwells (USA), ARIA nominated First Nations artist Bumpy, Celtic outfit Claymore, pop folker Gabby Steel, Timor Leste migrant workers Lian Husi Timor, Australian songwriter Liz Stringer and plenty more.

Festival favourites in beloved broadcaster Brian Nankervis, the uplifting Find Your Voice Collective Showcase, and the much loved Festival Choir will be complimented by yoga and live music on Saturday and Sunday morning to kick off the weekend with a restorative experience of movement, breath and live sound.

Port Fairy Folk Festival program director Justin Rudge said this announcement showed the width and breadth of the spirit that is Port Fairy Folk Festival.

“World class artists sharing the stage with emerging voices, community choirs and participatory experiences – Port Fairy Folk Festival is about celebrating music as something that brings people together, whether that’s through an intimate song, a shared cultural story, or thousands of voices singing as one.

“We’re just two months away from our 49th festival and we can’t wait to continue traditions and celebrations in the beautiful village of Port Fairy.”

Port Fairy Folk Festival takes place over the Labour Day long weekend (March 6 to March 9).
