PRELIMINARY works have begun on the Surf Coast Aquatic and Health Centre, with the site being prepared and a new car park being constructed.

Fencing has been set up on the grassed area between the Wurdi Baierr Stadium car park and the Surf Coast Highway to create the new car park.

Construction vehicles are accessing the site from College Lane under traffic management.

People can still access Wurdi Baierr Stadium, the outdoor sport and recreation facilities at Banyul Warri Fields and Grant Pavilion as normal.

The sealed and gravel car park at both sites will operate as usual.

Preliminary works are expected to continue into early 2025, before main construction kicks off in February 2025.

A site plan for the preliminary works.

The Surf Coast Aquatic and Health Centre will support health, wellbeing and water safety for the Surf Coast community.

The new centre will connect with Wurdi Baierr Stadium and become its new primary entry point.

Kane Construction will complete stage one construction of the centre.

Stage one includes a 25-metre indoor pool for lap/squad swimming, a warm water indoor pool for exercise, hydrotherapy and leisure, gym and programs spaces, allied health suites and a café and supporting amenities.

The Surf Coast Shire council will update the community on impacts during construction.
