Pumpkin patch kid grows a big one
WHEN it comes to pumpkins Grace Collins, 3, said she’s a fan of growing them but not eating them, which is a shame considering the size of one in her backyard.
Grace and her father David Collins planted the pumpkin seed several months ago and watched on in anticipation as the vegetable continued to grow.
Grace’s mum, Bronwyn Merritt, said the family moved from Melbourne to Torquay a couple of years ago looking for a sea-change and gardening has been one of many advantages a larger property offers.
“It was a massive zucchini from the garden last week. We’re not sure how much bigger it’s (the pumpkin) going to get but we do know there’s going to be plenty of pumpkin soup, that’s for sure.”
