Purple people are on the march in Torquay

February 8, 2018 BY

THE Surf Coast Relay for Life teams will be on the march tomorrow (Friday) in Torquay.

Team members dressed in their purple shirts will be out in force as part of the march, which starts at 8.45am and will travel from Torquay’s Gilbert Street and The Esplanade to Point Danger and back.

“We want everyone to join in to create a colourful spectacle to reinforce our committee’s efforts to ‘Paint the Town Purple’ until Sunday week,” relay co-chair Magdalena Wheatland said.

“The Surf Coast Shire’s sponsorship has helped us to deck Gilbert Street with flags, signs and decorations to back up displays by local businesses in support of efforts to combat cancer.

“We are hoping it will all encourage the local community and visitors to take part in our overnight relay on March 16-17 at Polwarth Oval, North Torquay.

“The relay is the culmination of fundraising by the committee and teams over the past year.”
