BELLARINE hospitality gem The Q Train are the toast of the town following their win at last night’s (Monday, September 1) Restaurant and Catering Hostplus Awards for Excellence.

The Q Train took home top honours in the Tourism Restaurant category of the combined Victorian and Tasmanian Awards.

The Awards for Excellence is the hospitality industry’s most prestigious recognition program, judged by independent experts on defined operational criteria, including food quality, service, and overall customer experience.

It welcomed hundreds of the region’s leading chefs, restaurateurs, caterers and suppliers to recognise outstanding achievement across the hospitality sector.

The Q Train head chef Sean Street said the team was absolutely over the moon with their statewide honours.

“It’s a real thrill; we’ve worked really hard to get this and to be acknowledged like this is just amazing.

“Our mission is to try and offer every customer a taste of the whole Bellarine in three hours… that way they can experience the best the Bellarine has to offer!

“This award is a credit to our relationships with our suppliers; we love growing with these cousins, wives and small suppliers. It’s also our customers; we take customer feedback really seriously, we really listen to them and cater to their needs.

“There’s no pride or egos in the business, we really put a focus on the customers and giving them the best experience they can possibly get.”

Street said the award has given them great confidence to go one better and take out the national title at the coming gala dinner on October 27.

“It’s a chance to really show that we are a place to really come and see and be a part of.

“Our message is really just trying to showcase the beauty of our region and just what’s available on our back doorstep.

“It’ll be great to show people from overseas and other states that the Bellarine is worth coming to have a look at.”
