Registrations open for 2025 People’s Ride

REGISTRATIONS have opened for the TAC People’s Ride in next year’s Cadel Evans Great Ocean Road Race

Over 3,000 riders are expected to take to the roads of Geelong, Bellarine, and the Surf Coast on February 1, 2025.

Presented by Visit Victoria, the Cadel Evans Great Ocean Road Race has included the mass participation TAC People’s Ride since its inception in 2015.

Four-time Olympian and Australia’s only Tour De France winner, Cadel Evans, said the People’s Ride was his favourite day of the year.

“It’s an unbelievable experience to ride with over 3,000 riders from all over Australia on the roads I call home.

“The sea of jerseys and smiles I see on the start line as we begin gives me goosebumps every single year.

“Please join me in 2025 to challenge yourself and tackle the same roads our world’s best cyclists will battle on that same weekend.”

The 2025 ride features two scenic courses showcasing the best of regional Victoria.

The longer Cadel Classic, spanning 124km, will challenge riders with a route offering some of the most beautiful coastal views, including the challenging Challambra Climb experienced by the world’s best during the UCI WorldTour event.

The course heads south from Geelong to Barwon Heads, through Torquay, and into the rolling hills of the Surf Coast Shire.

For those seeking a less intense ride, the 59km Cadel’s Hometown offers a flatter course that passes through Barwon Heads, catering to beginner and intermediate riders alike.

Minister for Tourism, Sport, and Major Events Steve Dimopoulos said the event brought joy to the region.

“It’s fantastic to see the People’s Ride return to the program again in 2025, giving people of all ages the chance to ride on the same course as their cycling heroes,” Mr Dimopoulos said.

The UCI WorldTour calendar for 2025 includes the Cadel Evans Great Ocean Road Race Elite Men’s and Women’s races, scheduled for February 1-2.

The weekend of world-class cycling will attract riders and fans from around the world to experience the best of this beautiful part of Victoria.

Last year’s event attracted more than 140,000 people to the region.
