MORE than 350 people are expected to roll out their mats tomorrow (Sunday, October 19) at Serenity in the Stadium.

The community yoga event will be held at GMHBA Stadium and bring people together for movement, mindfulness and connection in the heart of Geelong.

Held during Mental Health Month, the event aims to raise awareness of physical, social and mental health benefits of yoga.

Now in its second year, the event is a collaboration between Read the Play and Active Geelong and is proudly supported by a network of local partners.

The one-hour session will be led by Sally Ferris from Wonder Yoga, who is well known her for welcoming and inclusive teaching style.

More than 350 people will be striking a yoga pose on Sunday morning at GMHBA Stadium.

Ms Ferris will guide participants through a relaxing set of exercises which is sure to help build a deep understanding of the mind-body connection.

“Serenity in the Stadium is a moment of collective pause in the heart of Geelong,” she said.

“We know from research that regular yoga practice can help strengthen cognitive function -attention, memory and emotional regulation too – almost like giving your brain a workout.

“I hope that participants will experience more than just a gentle morning stretch – I want them to feel a reset of their nervous system, freedom in their bodies and a connection to community.”

Gates will open for the event at 7:30am before an 8am start.

Tickets are still on sale online until Saturday 18 October at 11:59pm and will be available to purchase on the door as well.
