Repair Cafe Surf Coast toast successful 2022
REPAIR Café Surf Coast has kissed a successful 2022 goodbye, with their eyes now set on an exciting venture at a new team base in 2023.
Last month, the Repair Café Surf Coast celebrated its final workshop at the Anglesea Memorial Hall before heading down the Great Ocean Road to the Aireys Inlet Community Hall for 2023 and beyond.
The local volunteer organisation said they were thrilled with the results of the 2022 repair drive, saving more than one tonne of waste from landfill, while seeing their volunteer numbers go up from 33 to 47 people.
On their last official day in Anglesea on December 4, the service attracted 50 different visitors, while 45 items were repaired and another 23 were seen to and given advice on how to solve their particular issues.
Satisfied customers were rapt to have their items fixed and brought back to life.
“Fabulous! My bracelet was repaired and I couldn’t be happier,” one customer said.
“This is awesome. Need more repair places to help with these things,” another one added.
“Fantastic fix of Fisher Price pull along toy! My granddaughter will be rapt!”
With relaxed COVID restrictions in place, the Repair Café Surf Coast enjoyed operating every month of 2022, excluding breaks in January and June.
The Repair Café volunteers said they could not continue to operate without a constant rise in getting more people involved.
Apart from fixing items, volunteers can contribute in many different ways including, publicity, data management, social media, and photography.
The next Repair Café Surf Coast will be held on February 5 at the Aireys Inlet Community Hall.
