THE Lorne Aquatic and Angling Club had a very special guest for beers and a bite over the festive period.

International superstar chef Gordon Ramsay waltzed into the venue unannounced during a visit down the Great Ocean Road.

Club commodore Keith Miller said the crowd at the club was incredibly surprised to see Ramsey walk through the doors on the busy Friday evening.

“He was shooting a TV series in Melbourne, and he had and his friend had just decided to do a drive down the Great Ocean Road.

“They got down at about 4pm and went out for a walk on the pier and looked back at us and we had about 150 to 200 people there.

“They walked in and had a few beers and sausages. It was great.”

Mr Miller said Ramsay was not the sometimes “angry” guy you see on television.

“He was so friendly and easy to get along with. He was fantastic.

“The angry bit is just an act. He got mobbed a bit, but he didn’t mind. He spent about an hour and a half with us.”

Mr Ramsay took some special photos with the Lorne Aquatic Angling Club sausage cooking king Ric and popular local member and world champion eater Ed.

“It was definitely something to talk about iamongst the Lorne community.”
